The university, in the midlands, has been ranked the best for halls of residence – as well as being named as Whatuni’s University of the Year.

The results come from an online survey of students from 130 UK universities. Other categories included City Life, Uni Facilities, Courses & Lecturers, International, Clubs & Societies, Job Prospects, Student Union and Student Support.

Also ranking highly in the Accommodation category were Harper Adams, the agriculture specialist university in Shropshire, and Bangor University in Wales, whilst Loughborough also topped the ranking in the Student Union category.

The university, which is strong in sports, also made it into the top three in the categories of Student Support, Uni Facilities, Clubs & Societies and Job Prospects.

The Whatuni Awards act as an indicator on university choice for sixth form students are those hoping to make a choice about their higher education in the near future.

Professor Robert Allison, Vice-Chancellor of Loughborough University, said that the university’s success “is a proud moment” for students and staff, and a “fantastic achievement” that “reflects the commitment and hard work of staff and students.”
