Capex Planner Intern
Job Description
The Capex Planner will be responsible for the creation and validation of the Wholesale Wastewater Operational investment plan for 2025-2030. Utilising strong analytical and data handling skills, the Capex Planner will create a bottom-up asset level framework which aligns internal and manufacturer recommended maintenance activities, to create a time-based investment programme. Working alongside Operational and Asset Management teams to validate the plan to ensure the plan has a high degree of accuracy and incorporates real world asset conditions.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Creation of an asset data led framework to inform the next investment plan; align with maintenance strategy with SW standards or manufacturer recommendations.
• Liaison with Data Team and front-line Operations to ensure framework matches real world conditions and priorities.
• Report on weekly / monthly (as appropriate) plan progress to seek feedback and devise strategies to get back to plan. Reporting and escalation of blockers to key stakeholders within the business
• Respond to Ad hoc requests for technically driven management information
The Capex Planner role will ensure key stakeholders are kept informed and actively consulted.
Person Requirements
• Undergraduates looking to take a year out in industry as part of their degree course
• Pursuing studies in: Environmental Science, Data Science, Engineering, Geography or similar related degrees
• Excellent analytical and numeric skills
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strategic, forward looking & planning capabilities
• Strong technical problem-solving expertise, attention to detail, holistic understanding of interactions within complex scenarios
• Flexible & open to change / new ways of thinking
• Excellent communication & strong organisational skills
• Tenacity & ability to work at pace to deadlines with good attention to detail
• Clear logical thinker empowered to make decisions and drive to resolution
• Desirable to have someone who is interested in improving the environment overall
• Awareness of the water sector
