Job Description
Are you studying an engineering degree and looking for an Engineering placement at the end of your second or third year? If so, our client Southern Water can offer you a superb opportunity to gain valuable work experience on their one-year student placement programme.

During your 12 month placement with Southern Water you will spend your time in their Asset Resilience department where you will oversee projects from initial design to completion. This will involve justification of projects, design, liaising with contractors to obtain the best possible solution, installation and finally commissioning. This could be anything from Control modifications within PLC/HMI/SCADA systems, implementing changes in critical process, Electrical installation of components to provide resilience and the design / rollout of projects and programmes. You will participate in day to day operations including performance meetings, on site audits and data gathering to produce justification and benefits from the projects they are undertaking.

What you will be doing:
* Comprehensive induction to Southern Water including full safety training
* Spend time working to learn their processes and support site management
* Play an active part in running their process and supporting their business
* Support and lead continuous improvement processes, delivering improvements around resilience, safety and Pollution reduction
*  Be given direct responsibility for capital projects, including the design, installation and commissioning to help develop project management skills and responsibility
*  Learn transferable soft skills gain an excellent working knowledge of unit operations learnt at university with hands on practical experience
*  Develop the ability to work with a variety of different colleagues in their operations i.e. operators, Maintenance technicians, supply chain and finance

Person Requirements
* Undergraduates looking to take a year out in industry as part of their degree course
* Preferred Subjects: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical engineering, Electronic and Control, Product Design Engineering
* Engineering students that are able to take responsibility, want to gain hands on experience, and are curious and passionate to learn as well as being a strong communicator
* Good technical understanding of a process environment
* A strong interest in their business, their industry and in particular the position you have applied for
